Where to find happiness?

Do we need other people (like family, friends etc.) in order to be happy?.. Should we seek happiness in others or within ourselves?...

  • I guess it's inside but it needs to be extended to others which is why great men always help others...

Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela etc. all had great inner peace but do we know any other person with a more fruitful public life than they did...

    Cheers

  • To your first question: "Do we need other people (like family, friends etc.) in order to be happy?" : I believe the answer is yes sometimes and no others, but in what share probably differs from person to person. For me, the people I care for and the people who care for me are the main reason for my general happiness in life. But I do have many segments of happiness which involve just me.

"Should we seek happiness in others or within ourselves?" : I belive happiness is always something that is inside you - if you want it to arise by seeing others happy or in other ways such as earning fame for yourself is your conscious choice.

  • I think when you find happiness, you need to share it. Not so much for yourself, but to keep passing it on. All those great men, they gave to others. If you keep all that happiness to yourself (because youre scared to admit you need other people?), is it really happiness, or has it turned sour and stale and forgotten what it feels like to feel peaceful and complete?
